Prof. d-r Andrea Membretti
Andrea Membretti has a PhD in Sociology at the University of Milan "Statale" and a Degree cum laude in Political Sciences at the University of Pavia (Italy). After being post doc reseacher at the University of Pavia and of Milan Bicocca, and consultant for public and private organizations in the field of participatory planning and local development, he is now Senior Researcher at Eurac Research (Bolzano), where he is actually the Scientific coordinator of the Horizon 2020 Project MATILDE (Migration impact assessment to enhance local integration in rural and mountains areas of Europe – www.matilde-migration.eu).
As a teacher, Andrea Membretti is Assistant Professor of Sociology of the Territory at the University of Pavia. He is also Associate Researcher of Sociology at the University of the Free State (South Africa) and Research Affiliate at the Department of Cultures, Politics & Society of the University of Turin (Italy). His main field of study is migration to/from European and non-European mountain and rural territories, in relation to climate change, local development, risk management and community resilience. He is one of the founders of the ForAlps (Foreign Immigration in the Alps) network and is member of the GLOMOS centre (Global Mountain Safeguard Research), an initiative of the
University of the United Nations (UNU-EHS).
