Kristijan Mihajlovski

Kristijan Mihajlovski comes from Skopje, North Macedonia. He joined the International Institute of Humanitarian Law in Sanremo in February 2021 as Academic Unit Coordinator for the Department of International Refugee Law and Migration Law. His work focuses on supporting academic and capacity building institutions in promoting refugee law through teaching.

Before joining the Institute, he worked for five years with the Protection Unit at the UNHCR Representation in North Macedonia, where he was the focal point for the UNHCR’s partnership with academia. He has experience working in the field with refugees, asylum-seekers, migrants, and other persons in need of protection, as well as on systemic legal issues, including drafting and comments on asylum legislation, RSD monitoring, judicial review and protection border monitoring in the context of mixed movements.

Kristijan obtained a master’s degree in public international law from the ‘Iustinianus Primus’ Law Faculty in Skopje, North Macedonia in 2015.
