Carlos Gómez-Camarena

Carlos Gómez-Camarena is a psychoanalyst, translator, and professor based in Mexico City. He is a full-time faculty member and researcher at the Communication Department of Universidad Iberoamericana, and a member of the Forums of the Lacanian Field, where he maintains a clinical practice. With a PhD in Psychoanalysis and Psychopathology from Université Sorbonne Paris Cité, Carlos explores the intersections of cinema, contemporary French philosophy, and psychoanalysis.

He co-coordinated the international project Extimacies: Critical Theory from the Global South (2019–2022), supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. As part of the translation team behind Barbara Cassin’s Dictionary of Untranslatables, Carlos has worked across multiple languages—translating from English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese—and has published extensively, including The Marx through Lacan Vocabulary (Routledge, 2022) and The Revenge of the TV: Contemporary Audiovisual and its New Questions (Universidad Iberoamericana, 2022).

He is currently writing a book on psychoanalysis and streaming series. His academic and clinical work has been shared at conferences in more than fifteen countries across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and the Middle East, contributing to global dialogues on migration, subjectivity, and critical theory.
