The Refugee Law and Migration Center at the “Iustinianus Primus” Law Faculty, University Ss. Cyril and Methodius – Skopje, in cooperation with the UNHCR Representation in North Macedonia, is pleased to announce the 6th edition of the International Summer School on Refugee Rights and Migration, which will take place from 1 to 5 September 2025.

This year’s theme, “Asylum in the Anthropocene: Reimagining Hospitality in Europe,” focuses on the intersection of forced displacement, environmental crisis, and shifting socio-political dynamics in Europe. The program will engage with the evolving legal, cultural, and geopolitical challenges related to asylum, and critically examine how hospitality, borders, and belonging are being reimagined in response to the Anthropocene era.

AUDIENCE PROFILE

The Summer School is open to undergraduate, postgraduate, and early doctoral students from a wide range of academic disciplines, including law, sociology, political science, international relations, philosophy, and related social sciences.

No prior knowledge of international refugee law is required; however, applicants should have completed at least one foundational course in the social sciences.

We strongly encourage applications from individuals with lived experiences of displacement, statelessness, or migration.

Participation is limited to 50-60 students to ensure an interactive and engaging learning environment.
